The US Green Building Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to
promoting green building technology and education. The
USGBC oversees the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
Building Rating system and LEED accreditation of Design
Professionals. The LEED rating
system encourages adoption of
sustainable green building and development practices through the creation
and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and
